Drones are a marvel of technology and innovation. An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone, is an aircraft without any human pilot, crew, or passengers on board. However, in modern times, this unmanned aircraft is making life easier for farmers, security, defence, and more.

Aligning with this, India is celebrating its biggest drone festival – Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022 on May 27, 2022, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the event tomorrow, May 27 at 10 am. The Prime Minister will also interact with Kisan drone pilots, witness open-air drone demonstrations, and interact with startups in the drone exhibition centre.

The biggest-ever drone festival in India – Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022 is a two-day event and will conclude on May 28. Further, over 1,600 delegates comprising government officials, foreign diplomats, armed forces, central armed police forces, PSUs, private companies and drone startups etc. will participate in the Mahotsav.

At the exhibition, more than 70 exhibitors will display various use cases of drones. In addition to this, during the drone festival, virtual awards of drone pilot certificates, product launches, panel discussions, flying demonstrations, and a display of a Made-in-India Drone Taxi prototype, among others will also be done.

The use of drones is moving from traditional (defence) to more varied avenues. In recent times, drones are being actively utilized in agriculture. These are being used for the dispersion of fertilizers, and pesticides, crop assessment, transportation of crops, digitization of land records, and more. Further, they can contribute to boosting the agriculture sector.

Earlier in 2022, the Prime Minister flagged off 100 Kisan drones in different cities and towns of India to spray pesticides on farms across India. Further, Kisan Drone Suvidha has added a glorious chapter in the direction of modern agricultural facilities, that has ample prospects to change the directions of agriculture and transform the lives of farmers.
