manta aircraft's hybrid eVTOLs plan to revolutionize the aviation world

Switzerland-based Manta Aircraft intends to revolutionize the world of aviation with their latest release of hybrid-electric and all-electric aircraft. The newly unveiled ‘ANN’ aircraft family features multi-seat and drone versions of the same eVTOL, constructed with carbon composite and hybrid propulsion which allows for an impressive endurance and range.

All models of the Manta ANN family (see more here) combine airplane and helicopter capabilities into one, with the ability to take off and land vertically, therefore requiring very little ground space. Their hybrid propulsion system is composed of a turbo generator and batteries, presenting them with higher performance in terms of endurance and range (300 km – 1.000 km). Meanwhile, their airplane-like architecture allows for higher speeds (300+ kmh) and climb characteristics, as well as optimized maneuverability in safer flying conditions.

The ANN aircraft have very limited ground recharging infrastructure needs. The batteries are fed with eco-fuel and can be recharged en route. In this way, the ANN models enjoy the additional benefit of short ground time and high dispatch readiness. Last but not least, their efficient propulsion technology and reduced MRO needs significantly lower the total cost of operation and ownership, which is, in fact, much lower than that of a helicopter. 

The ANN2 model is a two-seat ‘speeder’ eVTOL designed for personal mobility and a wide range of utility missions. The aircraft has a range of 373 miles and a top speed of 186 MPH. It is fast, small and agile, and its certification is expected to come in 2023. ANN4 is a fully carbon-fiber-structure air vehicle with four comfortable seats for personal mobility, business travel & transport operations. Its styled, eye-catching design and impressive features offer a smooth, agile experience as if flying in a limousine.

ANN-DRONE is very similar to the two aforementioned ANN models, taking shape as a fully carbon-fiber-structured high-performance drone version. It can be controlled remotely or operated autonomously. Range, speed, and climb performance are well above average thanks to its design characteristics and advanced automated hybrid-electric propulsion.
