Disney World’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge park appears to be testing out X-Wing drones the size of SUVs for undisclosed purposes, according to a report from Disney park fan site BlogMickey.com, via io9 and TheForce.net. Even better, they’ve got photos.

BlogMickey reports that they received several photos showing an SUV-sized X-Wing drone stationed in a cast parking lot outside Disney’s Hollywood Studios, along with a cordoned-off tent guarded by security. Here’s a picture of one of the in-progress drones obtained by BlogMickey:

BlogMickey cautions readers to set expectations low, saying they don’t believe either of the two X-Wing drones currently being tested will be seen by the public. BlogMickey’s sources told the site that the drones will be used for the upcoming Rise of the Resistance media preview event.

It’s also worth noting that the Disney parks received a permit from the FAA for drone usage back in 2016, but the permit specifically says “multiple small unmanned aircraft systems.” It’s unclear if X-Wings the size of cars would fall under that category.

BlogMickey also managed to obtain an image of the two drones flying together with light fixtures attached.

Beyond that, BlogMickey also shared images of Disney’s Hollywood Studios parking lot, showing that a section of the cast member section has been blocked off. A large white tent appears to hold the drones during the day.

Do you think we’ll see these X-Wing drones fly over the parks when Rise of the Resistance opens in December? Let us know in the comments.
